This is the real deal! Actual real English Blackthorn! Gathered and cut by Paul and Pat on one of their frequent trips to England. This batch was cut at midsummer from the beautiful southwest of England in gorgeous witchy Celtic Cornwall and Devon!

Blackthorn has a fearsome reputation as THE original BLASTING ROD! Used for curses, turning and blasting, Blackthorn is the wood of revenge and justice!

Its thorns are brutal and can cause a blister that takes a while to heal and keeps re-blistering! Sacred to the Queen Of The Fae! You are warned to never sleep under blackthorn unless you wake up in the realm of the faeries!

Its other name is iron wood and was used by the ancient celts for cudgels!

The Blackthorn tree is esoterically known as both the Mother of the Woods and the Dark Crone of the Woods. Blackthorn is depicted in many fairy tales throughout Europe as a tree of ill omen. Called Straif in the Ogham, this tree has the most sinister reputation in Celtic tree lore. The English word ‘strife’ is said to derive from this Celtic word. A long hard winter is referred to as a Blackthorn Winter.

To Witches, it often represents the dark side of the Craft. It is a sacred tree to the Dark, or Crone aspect of the Triple Goddess, and represents the Waning and Dark Moons. Blackthorn is known as ‘the increaser and keeper of dark secrets’.

Each of Paul's wands are unique. There is no plan beforehand, the wand is allowed to manifest as it wills, Paul just helps it along.

Wood is of course a natural product. Paul works with the branch, interesting boles, cracks, are incorporated and left by design. Paul also never removes all the bark, as like skin it comes in many layers and some of the lower layers have their own gorgeous color and details!

Long before Paul was ever a blacksmith he carved and was a wandsmith.
