As part of our Every Day Witch Prices initiative to combat inflation Paul decided to re-launch one of his early ranges of elegant no-frills tools. He named it his “Cunning Craft” range.

His popular artisan hand forged iron burins or candle scribes are one of Paul's most popular creations and many blacksmiths have been inspired by Paul’s Celtic and witchcraft designs for these unique tools for bloodletting or inscribing words and symbols into candles or wood. Much quicker and safer and cleaner for pricking a finger or thumb near painlessly to let a bead of blood for spells and blood magick. Many also use them as mini wands or as scribes to etch into candles for candle magick.

These “Cunning Craft” burins are about $25 less as they don’t have any artisan embellishments…. But… They are detailed with Theban characters around the four ends of the burins square end… The letters S.M.I.B are stamped in Theban Witch Runes, one on each face… Standing for So Mote It Be!

The tip is needle sharp and the iron lends a pleasing weight, just like a pencil or pen it is much easier to wield than an athame or dagger. It is approx. 5.5 inches in length.

The twists talk to the nature of magick, ever changing, suggesting movement and energy. The contrast between the light and dark also talk to the dual nature of magick and the power of dualities.
Unique and hand forged by our pagan blacksmith. Paul is a practitioner of traditional witchcraft and ceremonial magick.

Iron is sacred to Mars and therefore perfect for a weapon of manifestation and will.
The Tubal Cain mythos also has iron as a tool of our will and apostasy, Yahweh after the expulsion from Eden told Adam and Eve they would have to scrabble among the thorns for their food... But Tubal Cain, 7th son of Cain had other ideas and discovered the working of iron and became the first blacksmith. To the Tubal Cain currents of witchcraft iron is therefore a tool of our will.

In Traditional English cottage witchcraft the Fae Folk are scared of iron and therefore iron tools can be used to protect against or control the Fae.

Each of Paul's burins or candle scribes are unique. There is no plan beforehand, the ritual tool is allowed to manifest as it wills, Paul just helps it along. The twists back and forth talk to the dual nature of magick, as does the contrast between the light shiny detailed areas of the wand and the darker forge blackened inner areas.
